Baby Storklette Scissors in Living Color!!! Oh my gosh, aren't these the cutest things??? Kelmscott's Baby Storklette Scissors in 10 new colors -- all following the DMC color palette -- so they'll match most of your stitching! Same color line as the Lil Gems, each of these scissors is a mere 2-1/2 inches long and features a shiny enameled colored finish in red... orange... pink... yellow... green... you can see them all in the pic. Friendship Claddagh Needle Minder A new needle minder by Kelmscott, this one features hands of friendship holding a heart, against a rich DMC 561 background. Very classic, understated and really pretty. We have gals who use these to mind their needles, but a WHOLE OTHER mindset that uses these as regular refrigerator magnets and note holders, no stitching required!!! Devon Scissors Ohhh, these feel good! Very angular and antique-y looking, these 3 3/4 inch scissors have a matte black finish, and feel very delicate in your hand. They have really nice balance, and those little blades are only 3/4 an inch in length, and are tapered on the tips. REALLY COOL inside a Halloween Stitching Case, or attached to a fun seasonal scary fob... I can see these attached to something sweet and antique in flavor from Blackbird, too! These are nice!
1/4 Inch Shell Buttons -- Shaped! Kelmscott has added to her line of Mother-of-Pearl and Natural Shell buttons with these 5 shapes. Triangles, Stars, Ovals, Hearts and Flowers, each bagged set includes 30 buttons that you can use for just about anything! The shiny side looks old and elegant, the shell side looks old and grungy. Two great choices for your finished look. Anyway, all the same sizes, and very affordable.
Stitchery Alphabet Necklaces Something that was stitched at some point, these are 1-inch silver plated pendants on a 30-inch chain. Featured on each is an image of stitching done with Tulip or Blue Lagoon Belle Soie silk on Lakeside Linen's Buttercream linen. There is a raised piece of glass covering the image -- I think it's sealed in there with a drop of a resin. Pretty... nothing to do with these except WEAR AND ENJOY them!!! Offered in either blue or red lettering... we are not going to stock all 52 options. New Goodies are Here! Kelmscott has a smattering of new things... here are just a few! A new Minder -- Heart in Hand -- a pretty antique ivory glove against a deep raspberry background, another great addition to Paula's Needle Minder collection. We now have a duo of 2-3/4 inch mini Eiffel Tower scissors. Miniature versions of the French landmark... one has a matte black finish, the other a shiny silver color. Too Cute! Next is a whole school of tiny mother-of-pearl fish buttons! A mere 7/8 of an inch in size... each fish has two holes to sew them on... and a third hole for his eye. They come packages as a set of 10 buttons.
A Schoolgirl's Book of Needle Worke -- A Woolie Book of Woolie Pages! from Island Cottage Needleworks Here's a Sneak Peek... Coming in January of 2012, Island Cottage Needleworks is beginning a new 12-part monthly series of small designs that will mount onto hand-dyed wool, and then be tied together to make a Woolie book! Each month, two charts along with a pretty hand-dyed 5 x 7 wool 'page' will arrive. One design finishes approx 3 x 5 on 36ct for one side of the wool, the other a 2 x 2 design for the back of the page. Stitched in Crescent's Belle Soie Silk... the teaser pictures look SO neat!!! More details will follow in Jan -- but plan on needing a fat quarter of 36ct linen -- or various pieces of Week's 35ct, and some Belle Soie silks from your stash. Each month's shipment will include the chart and wool. Don't know how we'll be addressing the linen and silks yet... except to say that they will be offered separately in case you need them! This promises to be a really cute, unique project! Each month's charts (with wool) will run $9.50.
Pumpkin Crow Needle Minder, New Buttons, Pumpkin, Pumpkin Kelmscott's newest arrivals are here! The pretty Pumpkin and Crow magnetic Needle Minder is striking -- the brilliant orange against the stark black -- VERY autumn-y to me! This will look great tucked into Halloween and Fall project cases. Be sure to scroll down to see a whole range of other needle minders! Paula has a new shape of shell button -- a hexagon shape, approx 3/8 of an inch in size. Each button is natural shell -- irredescent-ly white on one side and the brown natural shell on the other. You get 70-ish in her package, so you can do a lot of neat things with a matching set of that many pieces. Pumpkin, Pumpkin Here a cute pumpkin 'paddle!' Find a brilliant 35ct orange fabric (18ct aida will do -- color is simply the issue), stitch the Jack-O-Lantern face on one piece and the Halloween on the other... and mount onto both sides of the 3 x 4 wooden black painted pumpkin included. Comes as the chart with that painted wood. You supply the fabric bits and some black DMC or hand-dyed floss. There is a tiny hang-hole in the wood, so you can dress up a cabinet knob, or attach to scissors or a pretty sewing case... lots of options.
Newest Arrivals! Witch Boots, Ravens and Sunflowers... Kelmscott has released new scissors, winders and minders! The witch boot scissors are a 3-3/4 inch style finished in a matte black. Cute for Halloween-themed needlework cases and pin cushions, if you turn them one way... you can see witch shoes. If you turn them the other... you see a scary flying bat! Paula's newest Needle Minder features blooming sunflowers against a deepening late summer-yellow sky. Very pretty, lazy and relaxed sunflowers. Hare Needle Minder and Daisy Scissors Kelmscott has two new additions to their scissor and minder collections... Mini Rounds Shell Buttons A great set of 8mm (approx 1/4 on an inch) Mother-of-Pearl buttons -- shiny and smooth on one side, bumpy and natural on the other. The package that I am looking at for my 'web words' has 134 buttons in it! Tons of little shell buttons, you can do a lot with these tiny things! The shiny side looks elegant on antique-y things, the rough side looks great on primitives. Check out the finishing treatment on Pins the Sampler's Remembered Pin Cushion with Button trim pattern!
Samplers Remembered Pin Cushion What an awesome finishing treatment for some simple stitching! By Samplers Remembered, stitch the simple PINS design in any colors you want, on any little bit of linen you have. After assembling the cushion (walnut shell filling, even a Crazy Quilt backing treatment) you get the instructions for adding, via crochet, 125 of Kelmscott's Mini Rounds buttons to purchased cotton trim. I need a lesson in the crochet area, but the chart does include written info, and advises that the internet has lots of crochet demos available. Either way, I love that edge treatment... we have to get some shop models done like this!
April Showers Pinkeep Wool Stuffie from Island Cottage Needleworks A pink umbrella and a little pink doggie, both add to the charm of this 3-1/2 x 6-1/2 inch pin keep. It is stitched on Weeks 35ct Confederate Gray linen with a few Sampler Threads and garnished with a few glass seed beads (for the raindrops). The chart comes with the hand-dyed wool you see around the linen, some coordinating backing fabric to match the Sampler Threads, and a bit of the silk ribbon to dress the top.
Friendship Sampler from Carolina House Designs This is meant to be a traveling piece between friends! You stitch the side borders and top alphabets and verse that talks about your stitching. Then, send it along to a friend (Better get stitching commitments before you send!) and THEY choose center motifs that remind them of you or your memories together, and stitch them into the center area. (Might think about send your threads, too, so you don't get something in there that is 10 times brighter than the rest!) NOTE: the motifs in the lower middle area are NOT included in this chart. They are there only as examples, as they are the motifs that Caroline's friends chose and stitched for her! The chart does come with a page of other small designs, but you are encouraged to go through your stash of designs to find just the perfect things for your friends. A neat idea, this has a stitch count of 212 x 210. It is coded for DMC with 5 colors of Anchor... change it all to overdyeds or silks if you want to... it's YOUR sampler! Offered as the chart.
Folkart Wooden Ornaments #1 and #2 in this monthly set are here -- Tidings of Great Joy features an angel cut-out, and Christmas Bells -- a bell! These are offered as small wooden cut-outs that have been painted for you. Maria's Dechado... Maria's Sampler from Samplers Remembered This is a stunning example of a Mexican Sampler. FULL of dramatic Satin Stitches in your choice of silk or DMC floss, the entire left-hand side is stitched over two threads, while the right-hand side is STITCHED OVER THREE THREADS!!! How's that for a brain-teaser?! Traditionally brighter on the color side, 99% of Mexican samplers are hemstitched rather than framed, as they were simply stitched 'diagrams' -- a record of stitches to be used on clothing and linens! Clover Sheep -- A Wool Stuffie What a precious little thing!! You make the baby sheep, and then stitch him a blankie!!! Offered as the chart with hand-dyed wool, cotton lining fabric (for the blanket) and finishing instructions. Offered as the chart with template pattern for sheepie, he comes with hand-dyed wool, black cotton for his face, ears, tail and feet, and brown calico fabric for his backside and blanket lining. VERY SIMPLE construction -- I'm not a seamstress, and this doesn't even look too involved for me! Finishing approx 5 x 5, you'll need a 9 x 9-ish cut of Weeks 35ct Confederate Grey Linen, and just a few bits of Sampler Thread overdyeds. Just precious!
A Sampler for My Mother from Aury TM Designs This is a charming piece -- quite large, actually, 279 x 279 stitches. It is simply Cross Stitch in DMC floss... just pretty colors of the 221's, 469's, 640's, 676 & 680, 924's, 3021 and 3722. Quaker motifs scattered here and there... you can stitch any sentiment in the center, and there are lots of places to personalize with family initials and special dates. Make this a family tree! VERY pretty! Can be stitched on just about any fabric or count! Offered as a chart.
Eliza's Heart from Island Cottage Needleworks This is a neat little Valentine to stitch for someone special! Using Oatmeal, Antique Lace, Antique Rose and Sarsaparilla Sampler Threads on 35ct Week's Mocha Linen, your Victorian glove delivers your valentine of love. The chart comes with a cut of Week's hand-dyed Cinnamon Rose wool, and some coordinating cotton backing fabric -- all to go with the linen and flosses from your stitching stash. It'll finish into a 4-inch heart, approx 1 inch thick. Packet includes the chart, wool and backing fabric.
Storklette Scissors Baby Storks!!!! How Cute!!!! Miniature, vintage-styled classic stork scissors -- notice the 1/2 inch blades, and the overall 2-1/2 inch size. The screw that holds them together is the stork's eye, so you can tell how they'll open and close. Offered in three different finishes, something petite and cute for a scissor case, or to place in a needlework too display, there isn't too much etching on these -- reminiscent of antique stork scissors.
Autumn Acorn Kit This is a sweet piece, a simple charted medley of tiny birds, pumpkins, acorns and leaves, the stitching is done with Chocolate Belle Soie Silk on 40ct linen. The painted wooden acorn is included with the chart -- you supply the bit of linen and thread for stitching. Trois Buttons and Hare Thread Winders Kelmscott has some new Mother-of-Pearl pieces to add to her collection of thread winders -- a darling pair of Hares -- and the first in her new button line. The rabbit winders are really cool -- they measure a petite 2-5/8 ish by 1 inch, and will look precious tucked in sewing cases or adorning pin cushions. A very pleasing shape on these. Packaged a Pair to the Pack! Next, we have a set of 10 triangular buttons -- two holes each. Actually measuring 3/4 of an inch from point to point, they really don't look that big. Sturdy and really pretty.
Cat Snips Scissors and Saltbox Hill Needle Minder Two more new treats from Kelmscott Designs that join her huge collection of unique scissors and needle magnets, this kind of thing is always fun as a stocking stuffer gift, or a special something to add to an unstitched project that you are giving as a gift! (Yes, it IS ok to 'gift' something that is supposed to be stitched but isn't stitched by you!!!!!) The kitty scissors are really fun because of that finger hole tail -- it curls just like a kitty tail. Very strange in proportion, though... because the blades measure a mere 3/8 of an inch of the overall 3-3/4 scissor length. Definitely a novelty scissor -- cute for so many places -- they come in a matte black finish. Saltbox Hill is a traditional sampler scene of the detailed willow tree between the houses of friends. Tombstone Angel Ornament This is a black painted wooden ornament blank that you could use as a scissor fob or basket adornment. It measures approx 3-1/2 from wing tip to tip and 4 inches high. She comes with a chart to stitch a simple alphabet on 40ct... you supply the fabric and threads... but I think some cute Primitive Needle motifs would also be awesome on her!!! Snow Queen's Slipper and Accessories from Carolina HouseAnother awesome study in fussy and detailed needlework finishing technique that delivers you the most charming little shoe when you are finished!!! This tiny slipper is stitched with hand-dyed blue silk on 32ct white linen, and embellished with white seed beads. In these instructions, you actually photo-copy your stitching, and cut out your finishing templates from those copies!!! The slipper features one of Kelmscott's new Mother of Pearl heart-shaped buckles on its front, and the matching fob is tied onto its scissors via a tiny thread ring! Mother of Pearl Pieces -- A Buckle, Daisy Thread Rings and Strawberry Thread Keep 3 New natural shell options... Mother Of Pearl Heart Buckle Oh, this is a cool thing... it is a one-inch heart, divided in the center, to form a buckle attachment. Paula has drilled the center section as well, so if you are wanting to anchor it a bit, you can. This is an imaginative piece for finishing, it'll present a different option for needlework case closures, pin cushion decorations, chatelaine embellishment, lots of fun things! Offered as a chart, the main piece is full of special stitches, and features special BUT EASY finishing techniques!!! It's a lovely evergreen and snowflake piece, those 8 points attach together with slip stitches. But the 'tufting' definition is simply super-duper long stitches of metallic thread that come up in the center, wrap AROUND the cushion and come up again in the center! Angel and Miniature Tudor Rose Scissors Kelmscott has two new scissor styles that are CHARMING! The angel is quite heavy, and features very small finger holes. (Reminds me of the shape of her owl scissors.) Designed as a complementary piece for fun sewing and needlework cases... I actually think these would be stunning hanging on your Christmas tree as an ornament! Possibly attach them to some red wool or felt? Very shiny and pretty!!! The miniature Tudor Rose style is gold, and only 2-1/2 inches in size -- smaller than Kelmscott's regular silver-toned style. 1/2 Inch blades, these are just the prettiest little things... ones you probably HAVE to HAVE!!! (And who says a stitcher shouldn't decorate their tree with a few scissors and needlework threats!?)

Paula tells us that in Britain, candies are called 'Sweeties'... and since all the special pieces that go along with the main piece reminded her of 'Eye Candy'... she thought Strawberry Sweeties was the perfect name for the set! Pink Pearls and Flowers from Carolina HouseA lovely scattering of roses decorate the outside of this sewing case... but I cannot tell you if they are cross-stitched, Bullion Knots or what! Flower Pot Scissors In keeping with her Spring Fever, Paula has also designed a pair of gold-toned scissors that have a flower pot and bloom on the handles! Quite a different shape to the scissor -- the handle part features 2 inches of length, while the blades are only 1/2 an inch long. Definitely more of a decorative rather than everyday functional scissor. 3-3/4 inch overall length.

Needle Minders A very classy way to keep track of stray needles, these elegant, Victorian Cameos feature a pair of magnets on their back, to cling to fabrics, or rest on the table... just wherever you'd like. The magnets will attract your needles, so you won't lose them. Each Cameo is made from a resin material, but they look just like porcelain! 1-1/8 x 1-1/2 inch ovals, we have 7 designs available, and each is just as lovely as the other. Soft colors, beautiful relief, these are very well done, and what a great price, too!
