What a fun collection of small primitives! Lisa Roswell is a relatively new designer -- an Oncology Nurse half the time -- and a stitcher all the rest! She has some fun game boards in her collection, but I think my favorite parts are all the little funky-shaped animals that are tucked into most of her designs. Little cats and rabbits... Hoodoo Voodoo Oh my goodness... I don't know a lot about Voodoo... but I recognize motifs in here... and the whole thing is just plain CUTE! Check out the little doll below the letter A! How about the poor thing with the pin through him? Some potions and a snake... even a little Zombie! Offered as a chart, this finishes approx 6 x 6 depending of fabrics!
The Old Settlement This is a neat scene of an entire village... on just any ordinary day. There is activity everywhere you look. Your eye is drawn to the dramatic top and bottom borders on this 11 x 14-ish piece... they are striking bands of bright color that does repeat in the piece. Bold, they seem to hold the settlement in place! Offered as a chart, this is coded for Belle Soie silk, only -- 26 of them. Mystic Sampler Mystic Sampler, a companion to Earth, Yule and Hallow Samplers... this is a fun little spot-motif piece that finishes only 6 x 6 on 32ct. Now that you've seen the Witches Hollow pattern... you could pull some of your favorite things out of that one and put them into this one, for fun! But, I love that little owl, so keep him! Retro Halloween Kind of fun, this piece has lots of visual impact! Crescent Colours overdyeds make the colors great... no verse, no fuss! Offered as the chart, it finishes approx 9 x 9 on 32ct.
ABC Hornbook Primitive Needle has 5 new designs... this alphabet sampler is only one of them... we think it's cute, cute, cute! Stitched in overdyed flosses, every letter has a tiny verse and picture, so it kind of tells a little story. Offered as a chart, the stitch count is 186 x 371, so fabric count will definitely affect finished size. 28Ct would make it 13 x 26, so you might go smaller! A lot to capture your eye!
A & E Not a reproduction, just inspired from Adam & Eve Samplers from years ago, this is charted for Needlepoint Inc silks. Easy to convert to overdyed flosses if you'd rather... a medium size at 129 x 164 stitches.
Earth Sampler A Springtime companion to Yule and Hallow Samplers, I know you can't see it, but there is a little white dog in here that is a charming and funky as the cat in the Hallow piece! Just different and cute, offered as a chart, stitched with Gentle Art Sampler threads, stitch count of 102 x 107.
The Talking Board Remember the Ouija Board Game??? The all-knowing mystifying oracle of encompassing knowledge??? (It was the beginning of so many sibling arguments at our house, that my parents took it away!!!) Here it is, charted! Just for fun, and the gameroom wall! Finishes approx 7 x 10 on 32ct.
Witchy Stitch count of 82 x 68, worked with Weeks hand-dyeds, all the motifs jammed in here are jumbled and cute. The top and bottom border each feature rows of tiny jack-o-lanterns. There's that squatty little kitty in there, that I LOVE!
Yule Sampler New by The Primitive Needle, Yule Sampler is a tiny companion to Hallow Sampler -- which came out this past summer. Such a fun little piece, this measures a mere 5-1/2 inches square on 40ct, features the alphabet, and tiny Christmassy motifs. Check out the little mouse between the 'w' and 'x!' Stitched in Crescent Colours hand-dyed flosses, it's a quick stitch with lots of personality!
Hallow Sampler The Primitive Needle has designed a fun Halloween-inspired piece -- that features alphabets and silly little Halloween creatures and motifs scattered everywhere. It's kind of refreshing, because the owl isn't by the O, and the moon isn't beside the M! My absolute favorite part, though, is that funky cat between the S and T! Isn't he just the cutest little thing? What's with that long body, 'arched back' and too-cute smile... and those little legs??? I think he steals the charm of the piece! Offered as a chart, choose a favorite hand-dyed linen... the mangier the better. It calls for only seven different Weeks flosses -- Curry, Sweet Potato, Light Khaki, Charcoal, Bark, Thyme and Cocoa so that's easy! Corn & Grain 'All that falls shall rise again.' Cute for a farm kitchen, the owls are cute, but the peppers steal the piece!!! Stitch count of 108 x 88, stitched with Sampler Threads.
The Dampy Sod One of those grave-sayings... most either really like or really hate these things! This one features very primitive angels, and actually an uplifting verse... and really pretty colors of Weeks and Crescent -- denims and old golds.
Halloween Parcheesi Stitched on 35ct Weeks Straw linen in Carrot and Charcoal... I never learned how to play Parcheesi, but I think this little board is charming! Each of the corner block animals (40 x 40 stitch count) would be cute on one side of a scissor fob, and the jack/bat/stripes stitched on the other side!
The Game Boards Hare, Patriotic, Hallow and Yule... pick a season and stitch away! These 4 are charming, all measuring 74 x 196 in size, all stitched in pretty overdyeds. What fun things to hang in your game room or family room. Of course, my favorite are those rabbits, but the Christmas Trees are fun and wispy, too. Really cute, you could always get carried away, and do some special stitches in the checkerboard area! All 4 are offered as separate charts.
