This is a small selection of fun fobs and needlecases... designed by two gals in Atlanta who love both beadwork and stitching! Available as complete individual kits, I chose a few designs at Market that were my favorites! We have the stitched models in the shop... so I've tucked them into our color copier, enlarged them, and given you a few more pics than the actual kits do. We're inserting them into all the kits we're selling... things like fringe detail, the insides of the needlecases... stuff that makes a picture worth a thousand pages of instructions! I understand Peyote stitch, so I could follow the instructions. But if you are unfamiliar with it, you might want a friend close-by who knows Peyote.
Pretty Peas - The Sewing Case and Beaded Scissor FobOh... I took a class at Market and MADE this little beaded fob!!!!!!!!!! Those Fern Ridge Gals are way too happy and have so much fun with their designs and kits... we had such a fun afternoon! Pretty Peas -- The Fob -- is a Peyote Stitch piece -- actually very basic and small in size. You see that pea vine on there -- that's tacked on after the basic beading is finished. Then, that lavish trim... just cool beads all strung together zip-zap! Their complete kit contains ALL the cool beads and charms, the threads, the findings, everything! The matching stitched Pretty Peas Sewing Case is DARLING! Stitched on Week's 30ct Parchment linen, the complete kit is a treasure-package of hand-dyed silk ribbons and threads, and the embellishments include a little bit of wood, pea beads, Delica beads, CHARMING mother-of-pearl flower buttons, bone thread winders, and even a pea pod charm that matches the one on the fob. I love the bright colors, and I'm so proud of my little fob!
![]() Remember the Poppies Another pretty Peyote Stitch fob by the Fern Ridge Gals, this one is full of striking brilliant red color against a white background with stunning greenery fringe to *trim your flower.* Really a very basic beading design, it still looks complicated. Like the rest of their fobs -- the fringe is simple bead stringing! Offered as the complete kit of all the pretty beads you see here, the findings, the needle, thread and instructions.
![]() Bee Skeptical Oh, this is CUTE! It is simple Peyote Stitch beading... you work it flat... and the attach the two ends together to make a cylinder shape. Then pinch the top together in one direction, and the bottom together in the opposite direction, tack them closed and add the beaded trims -- and the bee charm -- and you're finished! There is a bit of fibre-fill in here... and the gals have added one of those earth-magnets inside this model to make that needle cling on the front. Just CAN'T poke a needle into that beautiful beading! Your Bead Bug -- Bee Skeptical measures approx 1-1/2 inches when finished. Too Cute! Offered as the complete kit of beads, threads, needle, magnet and instructions.
![]() Saturday Night Heart We've had this particular kit for years and years... but I have just recently found my shop model again!!! So, so, so pretty, it is simple Peyote Stitch beading, with loops of beads as the bottom trim and more loops along the top to hang it from a jewelry stick pin. Black, white and fuscia, it is truly striking. Offered as a complete kit of all the pretty beads you see in the model, there are Peyote Stitch instructions as well. Saturday Night Heart measures approx 2 x 2-1/2. I think it'd be pretty attached to the front of a needle case if you didn't want to go the pin-to-wear option.
Jo Jo's SantaFern Ridge has a stunning new Santa Peyote Stitch piece that can be used as a pin, ornament or necklace pendant. Charming Mr Santa Claus is entirely beaded -- no loom, no base fabric. You stitch him in your hands using a beading technique named the Peyote Stitch -- where the beads fit together like miniature bricks! He is basically charted -- complete beading instructions are included with the color coded diagrams. He finishes a mere 2-1/2 x 2-1/2, his face is flat... but that beard is a wonderful mass of looped beads, all glistening with silver star mixed in. Offered as the complete kit, you get all the threads, beads, embellishments, findings... everything... along with great instructions!
Little Witches and Hazel Well... we missed Halloween this year... but I think it's a pretty good gamble that you could get these ready for next year. Here are two more of Fern Ridge's Peyote Stitch Scissor Fobs that add to their awesome collection of luscious creations! Offered as complete kits, these are all beaded. No Cross Stitching involved. Peyote Stitch is a type of beading... no base fabric... you 'do it -- in hand!' Pat and Peggy have so much creative talent -- I don't know how they find all the cool beads they do -- and the fringes for all of their fobs are WAY Over-The-Top COOL! So much texture and personality in these. They measure approx an inch wide, and 2 to 3 or 4 inches long, depending on the fringes. As far as Peyote Stitch goes -- these are actually more on the beginning side of difficulty. The fringe looks like the hard part -- but that's actually the easiest -- as they are just loops of beads! Bringing our collection of fobs to 9, I believe... our Peyote-Beading-Model-Stitcher, Leanna is busy, busy making our shop models!!! These kits contain ALL your beads, threads, findings, needles... and great instructions! (just not a Leanna to go with them!)
![]() Jack and Jack's Book The gals at Fern Ridge were busy this summer... this is a COOL set of bunny/garden/summer designs! Jack is the bunny's name - the little guy featured on the Peyote-Stitch beaded fob. Offered as the complete kit -- you get ALL the beads, charms and findings you see in our pic. They taught this as a class at Market, and several FINISHED the bunny part... the fringe is simple bead stringing. Jack's Book is another of their awesome kits -- you get EVERYTHING -- ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING in these kits -- except the personal needle artist to do the hand work for you! Every page of this stitched book features stitched garden scenes and cute motifs embellished with all sorts of cool stuff -- all included in the kit. (I don't even know how they cram this much stuff into the kit baggie!) 12 Pages of instructions, 3 color pages of actual interior page pics -- all stitched. 28ct Cashel Linen, Hoffman brand fabric for pages, the two wooden book cover pieces with the bunny and carrot already cut into them! Leather lace to attach all together, interfacings and linings... tons of stuff! Threads and charms, wools and beads, and all the hand-dyed threads you need ... like I said, I'm not sure I can get it all back into the package the way it came out! The little book measures 3-3/4 x 5-1/2 and is at least an inch thick with all the fabric pages inside. WAY DIFFERENT... VERY FUN to pick up, hold, page through and fiddle with!
A Coffin to Die ForOh My Gosh... Peggy and Pat found a 'coffin-man' to build then tiny wooden coffins to store scissors!!! This thing measures just 4-1/2 x 2 x 1-1/4 in size. Lift the cover (it is made of unfinished wood, so you can always mange it up with a little stain or dirt if you want more authenticity!) to reveal your stitched lining on 28ct Vanilla Swirl Cashel Linen. Padded with a bit of Warm 'n Natural, the bottom mattress nestles your black 3-1/2 inch scissors. (choose a pair from your stash!) Best wishes of Rest in Peace are stitched right there! Next, see the tiny needle book? Kind of like a little blanket, complete with silver bone closure charm. Finally, the pillow in there (like half an inch in size!) with a bead rose on it, complete with a few drops of 'blood!' Is this not the cutest thing????? The complete kit comes with the chart, linen, Warm 'n Natural lining, flosses, beads, bone charm and of course the miniature coffin.
Coffin BonesHere's the matching Peyote-Stitch beaded scissor fob to go the A Coffin to Die For. Fern Ridge always kits with the EXACT same beads and findings on their models -- everything is exquisite! Coffin Bones has the same bone charms, silver skulls, glass flowers, and petite Delica beads, so your fob will look just like the one in the pic! Just the most fun... instructions for Peyote Beading is included!
"Owl"oween Stitches and "Owl"oween Beaded FobWhat an excentric owl this little guy is! He adorns the front of his linen stitching case... and appears again in Peyote Stitch for his matching beaded fob! Offered as complete kits, the Linen case finishes approx 4 x 8 on 28ct Stormy Gray Linen. Worked with Thread Gatherer's Silk 'n Colors overdyed silk threads of yellows, greens oranges and that awesome Monster Mash combination color, the case is lined with grey fabric, embellished all over with beads and crystal paillettes -- the owl's beak is a big 'ol teardrop crystal! Then, you'll find a pair of cute, primitive owl thread winders! Fern Ridge's *coffin-man* made some silly little owls, and you get them too! A few special stitches -- Blankets around the eyes, Bargello on his tummy, even little gold bugle beads for his feet! The Owloween Fob is equally as fun. Orange, green and purple beads of all sorts of sizes, there is an owl charm on here, and a big beak crystal again! Complete fob kit comes with all those beads, a spool of the special beading thread, and all the necessary instructions!
Seedless Pumpkin Pin CushionAlong with Fern Ridge's *coffin-man* they have a *pumpkin-lady* who is hand-making this fun miniature pottery pumpkin -- complete with leaning lid and Jack-o-Lantern face. Handpainted and antiqued, the pumpkin measures a mere 3 x 2 x 1. It just fits right into your hand. I took a picture of the finished model at Market -- but I was holding it in one hand, and the camera in the other -- so if the pic to the right is blurry -- it's *operator error!!!* To make the cushion part, simply cover the wad of (included) wool roving with the top and bottom pieces of Weeks Collards Houndstooth wool to make a tufted round. Stuff it into the cavity. Next, garnish with the tiny spider, web and orange bead embellishments -- too cute! You're ready to poke pins!!! Offered as the complete kit of hand-made and painted pottery pumpkin, roving, wools, charms and instructions!
Grey Feast with its FobFern Ridge has a pair of new needlecase and scissor fob designs... Grey Feast is one, and Salty Halloween is the other. Since Halloween is upon us, I thought I'd showcase the acorn instead! GRAY...not brown.. when I asked about that... I was treated to the answer that they were 'individual and creative' and gray was the preferred color! I can deal with that and respect it!!!! This charming acorn sewing case is offered as a complete kit of Weeks Hand-dyeds wools -- in a gray tone -- with Gentle Art's Dried Thyme floss, DMC 645 and 3023 for cording, Rainbow Gallery's Dark Charcoal Alpaca wool, and a tiny pair of Kelmscott's stainless scissors! Construct the acorn case, and then, make the matching beaded scissor fob... with all that stunning beaded fringe! A very cute set, a very unexpected color... quite classy!
Salty HalloweenOne of Fern Ridge's new needlecase designs, Salty Halloween is a seaside piece... because, you know, they DO HAVE Halloween at the beach, too! A totally complete kit of all the cool beads, threads, silks and linings... the back of the case features a witch's broom stitched with silk ribbons, and the pumpkin has been carved into a Jack-o-lantern. A matching fob kit is also available. Nothing too difficult to execute, this is truly a different idea for a theme, and really cute! The kit includes EVERYTHING you need... Fern Ridge KNOWS HOW TO DO a kit!!
Join Us?A vulture hovering over that boiling cauldron... lots of cool 'ingredients' go into this case and fob pair! Silks, beads, crystals and wild fabrics... case and fob are both offered as complete kits... and each individually. VERY funky and fun -- quite on the unusual and unique side of life!!!
Spellbound!Fern Ridge has, once again, delivered us a charming sewing case with matching beaded scissor fob! The Witch's Case features a really cool metal spider web charm on it's front, Weeks Dye Works 30ct Carrot Linen, fuchsia silk linings and the most delightful colors of silks -- both solids and hand-dyeds! The witch is tempting stray Halloween spiders to join her brew! Inside, against the fuchsia silk, you have 4 pockets to store necessary needlework implements. Not tons of stitching, but there are a lot of beads on the edges. The spider on the back is glass!!! Offered as a complete kit of all the fabrics, silks, beads, linings and findings, there is even a color pic of the inside of the case, which is a real help. The Spellbound fob is peyote-stitch bead work. It's complete kit contains a huge wired spider that you bend a bit to attach to the fob (WAY TOO authentic for me!) and lots of black crystals and beads to adorn the fringe -- which you string apart like a web! Just the most imaginative thing!
Moonlight and 11:58 PM This stitched and beaded needlecase and scissor fob set is over-the-top with Halloween personality!!! You'll see from our pics, that each has so many fun little details in the beads and stitching, I don't know where to begin my description! Designed by Fern Ridge, these are offered as complete kits that contain all the necessary beads, threads, findings, charms, fabrics, needles, lining fabrics and linen, beading threads... just everything... except you!The needlecase features a beaded edge, a sterling spider and skeleton charm, is stitched on 28ct Silvery Moon Cashel Linen in silks, silks and more silks, and overdyeds flosses -- all of which are included in the kit. With special stitches and finishing instructions, the verse -- in a crooked alphabet font -- reads, "Moonlight and it's 11:58pm. Don't just stand there! Come on in. Our Stitch-in is about to begin. The linen we use is a spider's web. Our threads are the hanging moss. The needles we use will delight and amuse. So, come on in. There's no time to lose. It's 11:59 pm and the stitch-in is about to begin!" Lots of black, greys, bronze and brown... this is CHARMING! Finishes approx 4 x 4 when closed, and because of all the cool beading around the edges, this feels heavy in your hand. The RIP fob is stitched in Peyote Stitch. It's trim features a sterling skull charm, hematite stars and amber beaded accents...all the beads have a frosted matte finish... and make this look old and weathered! So creative and unusual, this is such fun!
