Here is a sampling of the Praire Schooler Collection. Classic cross stitch designs, Praire Schooler concentrates on primitive looking designs using a deep, rich color palette. Available in leaflet format, their subjects cover Christmas, Alphabets, Houses, Animals, Gardening and lots and lots of themed samplers. Praire Schooler's designs are timeless. Even the books they first published years ago have charming designs! Enjoy browsing through some of our more recent favorites! (Note: when you order an auto-ship, it will show up on your order form as a "zero-cost" or $.01 item, as we won't charge your credit card until we ship the kit.) |

![]() Winter 2012's New Releases! Treats from Prairie Schooler -- August and January round out their series of THE MONTH leaflets! All 12 have featured the same design style... a square companion piece to the larger main sampler... and all the larger pieces each feature a smaller block pic in them. (Notice the snowman block in the upper lefthand corner of January?) All 12 months have been tunning... and *because* they have all been the same sizes, you can mix and match the motifs in them, or do something like stitching all the take-out blocks in a medley! All are still available and on our web pages -- EXCEPT December -- which has been sold out for almost 2 years. (Nancy is kicking around thoughts to fix that issue... but no answers yet.) Scroll down through the sections below to collect all those leaflets in the Monthly series! Also in this set of releases is Bunnies and 3 Billy Goats Gruff. Bunnies can be worked on the pictured black, but if that is too hard for you to see, change the bunny color to gray and do them on a lighter color! Very Spring-y! The 3 Billy Goats is certainly a different subject than we're used to seeing... but what a fun piece to start a conversation over! All 4 leaflets use good old DMC floss to stitch these charming Prairie Schooler Classics!
Mini Card Collection DPrairie Schooler is releasing their 4th Collector Set of Ooooold freebie and promo charts of theirs! (I think she's been cleaning closets and finding boxes of printer over-runs... because we haven't been treated to these designs for YEARS!) Set D contains 9 designs -- the 4-Seasons set of bookmarks, and Santa in a Canoe, along with 4 other tiny charts. Due through our doors this Wednesday... get 'em while they still exist! We do still have some sets A, B & C left... don't know for how long.
![]() Comin' to Town 2011 Kit Prairie Schooler's 7th Annual Limited Edition Santa Kit has arrived! Beginning in 2005, they have presented a set of designs -- all Santas -- all kind of a *coverlet feel* to me -- all stitched on 28ct Natural Linen -- all with Crescent Colours hand-dyed floss included in their kit. This year's design features houses and reindeer, and a darling zig-zag-edged Santa panel that would be cute as an individual ornament! The kit includes the chart, 7 complete skeins of Crescent's flosses, and the needle. Although the red color in the pic looks orangey -- it is really Cupid -- a deep, true, rich red. A Stash-Must-have!
Presenting Prairie Schooler's 2011 Annual Santa! For the 26th (?) year in a row Prairie Schooler has delivered us their classic Santa Claus -- always the same size, always the same color palette, always the same charm! This year's edition to the set features Santa with his snow shoes and sack of snowballs. He'd better not throw them at that little cardinal!!! Offered as a single card, we still have *some* of the previous years' designs left, but they are gradually disappearing. Always the *Signal to Begin The Season*... enjoy our 2011 Santa!
![]() Christmas Favorites; September; Cats, Bats & Witches; and Santa's Night Christmas Favorites; September; Cats, Bats & Witches; and Santa's Night Prairie Schooler's newest releases... as always, you need them all!! #172 Christmas Favorites features 9 small ornament designs each with a bit of Blackwork detailing around their edges. (December is sold out, January is yet to come, August too.) An awesome collection of monthly designs, each features designs that are the same size, so you can mix and match them. #174 Cats, Bats & Witches has that neat main sampler along with the 4-patch of smaller Halloween designs -- check out your older books -- these are a companion to several I cannot offer you -- because they are out of print! #175 Santa's Night has a neat coverlet-inspired piece with Santa doing his Grand Job!!! Always a treat to get the new Prairie Schooler's!!! |

![]() Mini Card Sets Remember all these tiny promo-cards that Prairie Schooler has been presenting every season with new releases? If you're lucky, you've been able to collect many of them as little package stuffers in our mail orders through the years. I can't believe that very many of them are still around... but Nancy and Pam have FINALLY gathered some sets of them together to re-present to us!!! Teeny little 2 x 3 full color cards of designs that always matched and complimented their season's new releases... we have three sets of 10 cards each! Little historical archives of Prairie Schooler releases... these all finish into 2 x 2 or 2 x 3 designs...and have NEVER been published in any of PS's original leaflets. Each was introduced as a Promotional Card to highlight that season's set of releases. Here are pics of all three collections. Don't bother to try to sift through all your free charts... just get all three of these packs, and life will immediately get less complicated! Love 'em! |

![]() New Arrivals from Prairie Schooler Four new leaflets are here... full of PS Personality! MAY is the continuation of their monthly series... January, March, August and September haven't been published yet, February, April, May, June, July, October and November are currently available, and December is already out of print! Same design formats in this series... all the little blocks are interchangeable between the months! Folk Eggs is a new look for PS... Cute designs... if you can't get past the black fabric, think about Lambswool instead! As The Crow Flies features an awesome farming village scene, great colors, a classic Prairie Schooler design! Sunny Days features a small set of 8 ornaments... each sports a summery motif, and is surrounded with bits of coordinating lackwork. I love the little fishies around the lighthouse and crab! All are single leaflets, all call for DMC floss, no overdyeds.
![]() Presenting the 6th Annual Santa Kit! Santa's House Following the coverlet-feel of previous year's designs, this one joins the rest -- which ARE STILL AVAILABLE right now! Always offered as the design with cut of 28ct Natural Cashel Linen and 6 complete skeins of Crescent Colours hand-dyed flosses... This year, I think the house in the pic is more mine, than the North Pole! Either way, the gardens are full of lush pine trees and blooming poincettias, and Prairie Schooler personality! |
![]() Presenting the 2010 Annual Santa! We received our first PS Santa in 1984... so this little guy is #27 in the collection! He's a cross-country skier this year... getting in shape for the Big Day! A *Must Have*, he is stitched in the same color palette of DMC flosses as years past, finishes the same size, and still has the same charm as all the rest!!! Offered as the small card. |
![]() Fall, Halloween, Winter & Christmas... Presenting Prairie Schooler's Fall 2010 Releases! I just LOVE 'em ALL! * October is the 6th month designed so far... they are not being released in any kind of organized order, so we have an auto-ship for these! All the formats for each month are the same... so you can change the little panel in the upper left-hand corner of the sampler with any block from the other piece... AND all the other pieces from all the other months can be mixed and matched, as well! * Sweeping Cobwebs has darling companion leaflets that are already out of print from PS! (Hopefully they are safe and sound in your stash!) Cute Halloween sampler, and those same-sized little panels that match the monthly designs! * Snowy Nights has lots of companion leaflets that are still available. Darling little ornaments, check out leaflets # 142, 153, 155, 156, 157, 159 and 163! They all feature the same design format, and cover so many seasons!!! * And To All A Good Night features 2 charming Christmas pieces! Check out the little reindeer stamps! |
![]() Prairie Schooler New Releases! February, June, Tortoise & The Hare and Signs of Spring are all new leaflets by Prairie Schooler! February and June are the 5th and 6th in their on-going set of month-samplers -- each features that box in the upper corner, that is interchangeable with all the blocks in the companion piece -- and fits with all the REST of the month series! Check those out -- they are really cool. I think my favorite of this set of 4 leaflets is the Tortoise & The Hare! I love those rabbits and turtles everywhere!!! Signs of Spring is a set of animals, all framed Blackwork borders! As always, a great release of designs. We are offering an auto-ship (ie... auto-collect!) on those monthly titles... otherwise it's too easy to miss one in the set!
Prairie Schooler's 2009 Annual Santa is HERE!The 26th annual Olde Worlde Santa is a skater this year! He's holding a hockey stick, and carrying gifts and skates to all! Same small card format, same stitch count and same fun color scheme... your 2009 Skater Santa matches all the rest of Prairie Schoolers annuals! |
![]() Christmas Eve Prairie Schooler has released 4 new leaflets... 2 Christmas, 1 Fall and 1 Halloween in theme... they are all awesome! |
Prairie Schooler's 5th Annual Santa Kit!!!*Must Be Santa* is their 5th Christmas Kit -- NOT TO BE CONFUSED with their small, annual Santa Card (we expect #25, still, this year!) Must Be Santa shows Santa in the upstairs window... above the decorated tree downstairs in the living room... and one of his reindeer up on the roof! The same pretty deep brick reds and greens... (as with so many of the PS designs, I see the Santa-in-the-window as a small take-out design stitched over one!) This is the 5th year PS has released their Santa kits... chart, linen and Crescent Colours hand-dyed flosses... and you just simply *need* to stitch it! This kit contains the chart, 28ct Natural Linen, all the flosses and needle. He finishes approx 5 x 8... same size as his previous 4 annual kits! All of the previous cards and kits are pictured and dated lower on this page... scroll down and visit them to make sure your stash is complete!!! If you don't see a particular year's design... it is OUT OF PRINT!

2008 SantaFor the 25TH YEAR IN A ROW... Prairie Schooler has designed a classic Santa, always on the single card, always the same 4 x 3-ish, always following the same color scheme... so that by now, you have a *fantastic* set!!! Stitch them large or small, pillow or afghan, fob or ornament... we've seen everything over the years!!! Santa 2008 has presents in his sack, a sled, skinny tree, and blowing scarf. Just classic, this year! Most of the previous Santas are still available... some in a single card, some only in the reprinted sets of 4 designs. They're scattered throughout our Prairie Schooler Page. Make sure you take a look at PS's 4 newest leaflets -- #148 thru 152 -- freshly released! |
By The ChimneyThe Prairie Schooler presents their 4th annual Santa kit! Designed for Crescent Colours hand-dyed flosses... each year, these are stitched on 28ct Natural Linen, and finish approx 5 x 8. This year's limited edition design is stitched with Cupid, 3 skeins of Blackbird, 2 skeins of Spinach, and one each of Magnolia Blossom and Rosy Glow. I love the scene... I think this is the best of the 4 designs so far!!! Offered as the chart, linen and flosses, we do still have 2006 and 07 available. They are limited in production, so I don't know how long the previous designs will be offered to us. THIS ONE IS CUTE!!! |
Announcing the 2007 Santa! The 24th Annual Santa is here... and he's cool... he's a KNITTER!!! Same format, same colors, same size, same classic Prairie Schooler Charm... he needs no words! All of his ancestors are still available in one form or another... either single cards (don't be surprised if they are a bit on the yellow side -- these babies are 20-some years old!!!). Some that are only available in bigger cards of 4 years together... go through your stash and fill in the ones you're missing. Always an anticipated Santa... it's comforting to know that he still comes every year -- just like the Real Guy! |
2007 Limited Edition Let It Snow SantaPrairie Schooler's third annual Santa Kit offered exclusively through one of our industry distributors, this piece coordinates with the two previous designs, and is offered as a complete kit, featuring Crescent Colours overdyed flosses. Stitch the central Santa by himself, or add the sledders and snowman in the yard. Notice the smoke coming from the chimneys? One is the moon... the other, the stars!!! Stitched on 28ct Natural Cashel Linen in Cupid, Blackbird, Spinach, Magnolia Blossom and Dulce de Leche Crescent Colours, this finishes approx 8 x 5. Complete kit includes the chart, needle, linen and flosses. |
The 2006 Santa is Here! The 23 Annual little Santa card has arrived... and this year our Man-of-the-Season is sewing stockings! In the same small card format as every other year, same color scheme, this year's is a charming addition to the set! We have all the rest of the previous designs available... STILL! Prairie Schooler has re-printed past years in a 9 x 12 format with 4 years of Santas together, as they have run out of the older single cards... so you may have to double up on one of two to get the whole 23 year set. Over the years, we've seen these done into Afghans, bell pulls... you name it. Kind of special remembrance for me, personally... Prairie Schooler was a new designer at the second Market I ever attended, in Atlanta, in the Summer of 1984. They created quite a stir... and introduced their first Santa card at that show! |
Dear SantaThe 2006 Limited Edition Santa kit by Prairie Schooler has arrived! Only the second in the set (so you really aren't behind yet!), he is offered as a complete kit of 28ct Natural Linen, the chart and needles, and 6 complete skeins of Crescent Colours hand-dyed flosses. Finishing approx 5 x 8... Dear Santa is full of Prairie Schooler's timeless balance and primitive flavor. Deep reds and greens... some brighter cremes and more greens... something about PS's Santa designs defies dates -- they never seem to look 'yucky-old!'... just 'wonderful-old!' Check out last year's Here Comes Santa Claus... same colors, same size... we can still get him! |
